7 tips to build a valuable ‘Internet Persona’ as a Developer

Make people think of you as a reliable developer and take advantage of opportunities.

According to this Wikipedia article,

“… online identity or internet persona, is a social identity that an Internet user establishes in online communities and websites. It can also be considered as an actively constructed presentation of oneself.”.

Random guy. I’ve found the picture on unsplash and I think it looks kinda cool.

I am a web developer ; and despite the fact that we web developers are in high demand, we are also the largest population in comparison to other Software Engineering fields. Which means we have to face a lot more competition to have the best jobs and contracts. So we have to work even harder and be educated about self marketing.

After a few years building my online identity as a reliable developer, I ended up having clients even when I’m not searching for one. The ones I’ve had in the last two years were either by referral, or clients who already knew me and directly sent me a message throught my social media or my website.
Given that there was no “game changer”, but just some little steps…
